Real-world Azure Services in an agile start-up environment
Customer driven development places heavy strain on hosting technology decisions. Changes or expansions of requirements can potentially result in wasted hardware purchases. It is well known that cloud services provide a solution to this, but the impact of cloud services is much larger. The talk addresses the underlying service oriented design mind set around a distributed system for three major reasons: scalability, creating business opportunities and cost management. This start-up perspective takes the audience through the decisions that were made, and resulting benefits and shortfalls, such that they can get up to speed faster. We'll also focus on how hosted services allowed us to cater for the rapid change of business requirements prevalent in today's lean start up world.
We’ll look at the language agnostic approach utilized on Azure as well as how we ended up with a hybrid approach to hosted VM's, and pure hosted services, to cater for our requirements
